Monterey Bay, Cannery Row, Pebble Beach

we just came from Monterey Bay with some friends. it was a 5-hour drive, ang sakit sa puwet. my scoliosis acted up and for a moment i couldn't move. dell drove the whole time and to keep us awake, we bought starbuck's on the way. Inigo was a good boy, he only cried once because it was his feeding and nappie change time. so the oldies took advantage of this break to go to the restroom and gas up. syempre since i don't leave the house without my digicam, i took some pictures to chronicle the trip.

we reached the base (courtesy of our ex-navy friend Noel) around 2:30am. we were 30 mins early from our ETA. we decided to wait in the car while Noel was busy fixing our accommodations on the front desk (2 SUVs pala kami). so while waiting, Dell played a joke on the girls riding in the other SUV. binuksan kasi nila ung window, so dahan dahan siyang naglakad and ginulat ung mga babae. hahahahaha just imagine their reactions. e syempre natakot kami kasi military base yon so baka may mga nagpa-patrol.

finally, we got into our rooms. the bed was so inviting so it wasn't hard for me to fall asleep. namamahay kasi ako or baka kasi sobrang sakit na ng katawan ko from the trip kaya nakatulog agad ako. pero since dingding lang ang pagitan namin ng mga friends namin, we could hear their conversation. palakas ng palakas ang boses but of course nanalo ang antok ko so i was in lalaland right away. hindi lang yon, for the first time, inigo didn't sleep on my chest. sa kama siya natulog and he slept straight. nagising na lang kami ng 8:30am to feed him na. so after feeding, we started to get ready and by 11am, we were all out of the hotel to start the day.

we had brunch at fish hopper at cannery row. the buffet selection of food was ok but since hindi naman kami matatakaw, isang balik lang kami. though we had a great view since we were seated at the backmost of the reataurant facing the monterey bay. ang daming ducks and there were some people kayaking. then after brunch...off to monterey bay aquarium...

so while we were in line, someone sold their tickets to us for $25.00 for 2 (libre si Inigo). nakatipid na naman kami kasi the ticket is $25 each. the aquarium was nice, napaka-calming ng atmosphere. basta ang ganda lalo na ung aquarium na may mga gigantic yellowfin tuna, shark at kung ano ano pang mga isda yon. i was so relaxed when i was breastfeeding Inigo kasi feeling ko nasa ilalim ako ng dagat. hahaha

from there, we then proceeded to the scenic 17 mile drive on pebble beach. hindi talaga pinalampas ito ng mga kasama namin (isa na doon si dell) since most of them are golf addicts. this famous golf course is owned by clint eastwood and this is where the yearly at&t golf cup is being held. the view was spectacular...the houses were H-U-G-E!!!!! we stopped at every vista point to take pictures. ang ganda talaga ng view. it was a welcome respite from our toxic life in the city. we finally reached the golf course and since tulog si Inigo, Ninang Rea offered to babysit so Dell and I could have our "our" time even for a short while. we went to the shop and bought some souvenirs (keychains, shirts and my $28 cap). then went to the 18th green and took some photos. there was a wedding to be held, ang romantic kasi overlooking Pacific Ocean. pero kung ako ung bride, hindi ako magtu-tube dahil maninigas ako sa lamig.

so after this whole day adventure, dinner naman was at the fisherman's wharf.....since malapit kami sa dagat, seafood was what all of us ordered pero may gulay, kaming 2 lang ni dell was almost $70. josko....pang-2 linggo na naming pamalengke yon. but of course, this doesn't happen often so ok na rin. tapos coldstone for dessert kahit nanginginig na kami sa lamig. back in the hotel, after shower by 10 pm i was in lala land.....

Sunday.....we were on the road by 12noon. we decided to take the scenic route back home. tinagpas namin ang Pacific Coast Highway. syempre nag-enjoy kami sa view pero nang medyo matagal tagal na zigzag drive e hindi na nakakatuwa. i felt dizzy pero di naman ako nasusuka. grabe.....nakakahilo pala pag katagalan. and since all of us didn't have lunch yet, we ate at Morro Bay. had fish and chips and one piece of oyster. sarap kasi fresh talaga.

then after our late lunch and some window shopping, the drive back to reality started..... ;o(

we were home by 9pm.....

p.s. we have tons of pictures but i don't know how to link it with my blog. still have to figure that out.
