jan. 26 to feb. 1

January 26, Monday

we woke up so late today because the weather's been so good that you just want to sleep all day. nakakahiya man but it was Igi who woke me up. and so after feeding him brunch, we then headed to the water station to get water.

then around 4pm, we picked up Ychen and brought her to the mall for her other job. and since i've been craving for popeye's chicken, we decided to buy some for dinner. but as soon as we got home, my craving suddenly turned to Subway's tuna sandwich so i asked Dell to buy me one on his way home.

as they feasted on Popeye's chicken, i munched on my tuna sandwich.

January 27, Tuesday

i was up early and thought of doing the laundry since it was a bit sunny. unfortunately we ran out of laundry soap so i had nothing much to do. but good thing too that i didn't do the laundry because around mid-afternoon it started to get really cold and windy. that's how weird the weather is and it's driving me nuts. so Igi and i just watched his new dvd (Horton Hears a Who), read some books, played with his Thomas trains then finally had lunch.

then at around 3pm, we were both yawning already so we decided to take a nap. we woke up at 5pm and i rushed to cook our dinner. i've been craving for beef salpicao eversince my friend Patty posted a pix of it in one of her entries. so i searched the net for the easiest way to cook it. i even consulted my batchmate Princess who also loves to cook.

and here's the result with an added twist.

even the girls were raving about it. too bad i didn't cook a lot coz i thought they were not gonna be home and so the pan was empty even before i knew it.

oh well, next time.

January 28, Wednesday

Dell took a day-off again to do an additional line for his VO gig. we went with him and while waiting for his turn, we were at the guest lounge watching Bar Side Paradise and it happens to feature Barney's Beanery who has a branch in West Hollywood. and so we thought of eating there after the recording.

and how lucky are we when the GPS showed that there was a BB less than a mile from where we were. it was actually in 3rd St./Promenade, a very popular place to go to especially during spring/summer since the Santa Monica beach/pier is just a few steps away. but it took us 20 mins to find a parking space and even had some photos taken while we reached the top floor of the parking lot overlooking the ocean.

and after 3 more rounds, we finally found a parking spot and headed straight to BB's.

our table decoupaged with magazine cutouts of movie stars/singers and what have you

Igi pretending to be a part of the decoupaged table

and our orders...

buffalo wings and clam chowder for Dell

Penne Pasta with Sausage & Mushroom with Ceasar Salad on the side for me

and Chicken Strips with fries for Igi

though it's a bit pricey, the serving is so big that it's almost good for 3 people. I only ate half of my pasta so i had it to go for Dell's baon for tomorrow. Igi only ate 1 piece of his chicken strip so the other price would be his dinner tonight but we finished the buffalo wings coz it was just tooooo good.

and since they have a "Galaga" video game, we let Igi try it and he actually knew how to play it. but after $2, we had to stop him as we needed our cash to pay for our parking. =)

we were home by 5pm. rested for a while then rushed to the nearest laundromat to do our laundry. i haven't done laundry for 2 weeks (tamad!) and we were done at 8pm.

we were so tired from all of today's activity that we were asleep by 11pm.

January 29, Thursday

today's a windy day - see how weird the weather is. i wanted to clean the backyard but dust is just all over the place. i wouldn't want to be sneezing all day long. instead, Igi and i watched Horton Hears a Who for the nth time and enjoyed it again.

and i craved for inihaw na liempo so i marinated the liempo so it'd be ready by dinner. i was just too bothered by the wind coz i might start a fire once i start grilling it. thank goodness that when it's time for me to grill it, it was less windy. we had a sumptous dinner of inihaw na liempo and ensalada.

yum!

after dinner, i took a shower because i smelled lang inihaw na liempo. hahaha and was asleep by 11pm.

i was dead tired from all the grilling. =)

January 30, Friday

TGIF as they always say and this what kept me busy the whole day. i need to finish it for this Sunday's party. whew...

and later in the evening, we headed to the mall to buy my friend Patty her BBW bilins andgood thing it was still on sale. after that igi rode the giant carousel and it scared him to bits when it started moving. his hands were so cold and sweaty. look at the pics...poor kid! and then we had Subway sandwich for dinner.

and palalampasin ko ba naman di dumaan sa Target? so we headed their and i went straight again to the $ section and decided to buy this mini mailbox. there were actually few peices left so i hoarded imost of it. i saw the project in my latest Scrapbooks Etc. magazine and it gave me an idea. i have something in mind but it would be a secret for now.

while i was busy looking around, my boys headed straight to the toy section and Igi knew exactly the aisle where the Thomas trains are. and Dell bought him a new toy set for being a good boy. aaargh!

some dvds were marked down for $10 so we bought some of our faves.

and while scouting the dvd rack, this caught my eye and knew that this would be the perfect gift for Dell's sister since she loves and collects Popeye (shouldn't I be loving him too?). i checked the price and was really shocked with the price. it's only $9.99 - 2 sets of dvd in a lunchbox canister. not bad huh?.

January 31, Saturday

wow, first month of the year is almost done. bilis talaga ng panahon. well, today will be a busy day for me. we need to do general cleaning, order the food and buy some of the stuff needed for the small party we're having for Dell's birthday tomorrow. we just invited his family and some friends.

our menu is typical filipino - pancit malabon, beef kaldereta, shrimps, inihaw na tilapia and a vegetable dish. they want to buy some talaba but we'll see if it'll be available tomorrow since we have to buy it fresh. plus i'm thinking of making fruit salad for dessert and Trisha ordered some chicken empanada.

we pretty much finished all the errands we needed to do so i won't be rushed tomorrow since we're attending the church service at 11am. i also bought all the stuff that we need for the party at Smart & Final. i've set up everything so that all i need to do is put the food in the chafing dishes. all i need is to cook the shrimp dish tomorrow so i've crushed and minced the garlic and have sliced the green onions needed for the garnishing. talk about getting ready ahead of time. =)

now i'm just resting while sipping my fave drink (you should know it by now) and will be taking a shower in a little while then off to bed.

i'm excited for the party tomorrow. =)

February 1, Sunday

we attended the church service and left right away. we still need to pick up the food i ordered for the party. first we rushed to Manila Sunset to pick up the Pancit Malabon, then to the other pinoy place to get the rest of the food. i also bought 12 lbs of shrimps and cooked it.

the party was a success - we invited his cousins/golfmates, churchmates, sisters and close friends and all of them came to celebrate Dell's birthday and of course to watch the Superbowl.

i was too tired after as i have to clean up and wash some dishes. but i was happy to do it for Dell especially seeing the smile on his face for all the preparations i did and making sure everyone's eaten and having a good time.

anything for you honey...

day 19 to 25

January 19, Monday

surprisingly, today is a slow day compared to my usual Mondays. maybe because i chose not to be stressed out with the errands and house chores. or maybe because i chose to ignore the mess in the house and have come to accept that keeping an orderly, spotless house is just impossible when you have a rambunctious 3 year old constantly running around the house and thinks it's one big train tracks for his i-can't-count-anymore Thomas trains.

and that's exactly how our Monday went - Igi busy playing with his trains, played games in the computer then watched cartoons till before dinner time. and it's just showing that my little boy is becoming self sufficient as he requires minimum supervision already. he can now do things on his own like going to the potty to wiwi and wash his hands after, gets his own glass of water when he's thirsty, or gets his snack when he's hungry.

and while he was busy doing his own thing, i took the opportunity to start on my valentine gift for Dell. he's leaving for the PI on Feb. 11 so i must finish it before he leaves. it's a heart shape chipboard album which i will dress up with patterned papers, our photos and short love notes. nothing beats a home made gift.

here's a sneak peek.

January 20, Tuesday

i woke up extra early today to watch (together with the millions of americans and people around the globe) President Barak Obama be sworn in as the 44th president of the USA. and to feel the start of change this great country needs. and hope that things will be better for all of us. except for a minor blooper on his oathtaking, everything else is just heartwarming.

in the afternoon, we just went to Igi's doctor to get the results of his blood test. thank GOD that everything came out normal. but before we left the clinic Igi asked his doctor if he could check his ears. and their conversation was:

Igi : Doctor, can you check my ears?
Doc: Of course (turns on the light on his ear apparatus and peeks inside Igi's
ear)
Igi : Is it clean Doctor?
Doc: Yes, it is very clean (turns off the light)
Igi : Can you check my heart (lifts up his shirt)
Doc: OK, can you breathe deep for me (puts the stethoscope on his chest and
blurted out excitedly to keep Igi amused) - Wow Igi, your heart is very
good.
Igi : tenk chu Doctor (puts down his shirt). i'll see you tomorrow (and waves
bye to his doctor)

for someone who learned how to talk late, it was indeed a sight to behold. i'm one proud mom.

and since it was still early and we didn't have anything to do at home, we headed straight to Joann's since they're still having their huge clearance sale. and i ended up getting some scrap stuff since it was 60% off already. butas na naman bulsa ko but the deals are just to hard to resist.

(foam brushes @ 18c each, ribbons (small) @ 40c each, ribbons (big)@ $1 and those cute native baskets @ $1.80 each)

January 21, Wednesday

darn! i was up by 5:45am because of a stupid dream and couldn't go back to sleep anymore. and by 7:30am Dell started getting ready for his VO recording at Santa Monica. he was chosen to do the Taglish version of a 15-sec McDonald's ad on Quarter Pounder. it'll be aired in TFC and channel 18 so watch out for that. and another good news is - he's awarded 4 more VO gigs and this time it's for the 2010 Census campaign. he's recording is scheduled for tomorrow. yipee! GOD is good, he's showering us a lot of blessings!

and while i'm in the mood for some house chores, we finally took down out christmas tree, packed the decors neatly in plastic container bins. and when Dell got home from the recording (he took a day off), we cleaned the storage shed and threw most of the stuff that wasn't needed anymore. and now, all our Christmas, camping and beach stuff are neatly tucked in the storage shed and we still have space to accommodate more boxes.

of course after the cleaning comes the allergy attack. Dell couldn't stop sneezing and started to sound nasal. i hope he's better by tomorrow so he could deliver his recording perfectly.

January 22, Thursday

it rained a bit so weather is colder. i hope it stays this way till Spring. i can't take the unpredictable weather. one day we're all in tank tops and shorts and the next day we're all bundled up. i hate it plus it gives me headaches.

then at 4pm, mommy duty calls - or let's say stepmommy duty calls. i picked up Ychen at Pierce and took her to the mall for her other job. and while i'm at the mall already, i decided to check out the $1 section of Target to see if they have something interesting. and guess what i found and hoarded...scrapbook stuff for Valentine....PERFECT!

and since today is colder than usual, it's the perfect time to have soup for dinner and i headed to the supermarket to but ingredients for tinolang manok. too bad there's no murang papaya and malunggay leaves available, i just bought chayote and spinach leaves as alternatives.

Trisha the eldest wanted to learn how to make it so i made her cook it and came out real good. even Igi who's been a picky eater lately finished his bowl.

dinner was indeed a hit.

January 23, Friday

didn't do anything much today since it rained again. we were planning to eat out to celebrate Dell's VO gigs but since it too cold to go out we didn't push through with it. we didn't want to take Igi out as he might catch a cold again. so Dell just bought In n Out burgers and the 3 of us pigged out while watching a movie.

and the weather was perfect for a goodnight sleep.

January 24, Saturday

it's still raining but not as much compared to yesterday; plus Dell worked today so Igi and i just stayed home doing nothing. but he promised to take us out to dinner for the small celebration of the VO gig.

but as soon as he got home, he told me that tonight was the schedule for viewing for our churchmate's mom who passed away last Thursday after a long bout with the big C so we decided to go and pay our respect.

the kids were so excited running and playing around and Igi who was so hyperactive earlier snuggled close to his Kuya Gabe watching him play his PSP and it kept him quiet for a good 30 mins then back to the usual gulo with the other kids.

and guess what? they served food (very typical filipino practice) and so our plan to eat out was called off again. the guests feasted on Honeybaked ham with pandesal, enpanada from Red Ribbon, pancit bihon, lumpiang shanghai and turon. we were so full after the service and since we got free dinner, Dell treated us to Starbucks instead.

guess what time we fell asleep after downing venti-sized drinks? =)

January 25, Sunday

forced myself to wake up at 9am for the Sunday service. we were on the road by 10:30 and made it on time. the sermon was interesting because it talked about how to fight stress from a biblical point of view. something that you can apply on our daily lives.

after the service, free lunch was served again so we grabbed a quick bite and headed off to Burbank to meet with our friend Miko. we met up at Starbucks, ordered coffee and did a lot of catching up about our lives. and he also gave his christmas gift to Igi, the Horton Hears a Who dvd which i specifically requested. and after an hour, we bid our goodbyes since he still has to meet with someone at 3pm.

then when we got home, Igi was knocked out so our afternoon was quiet. i then called Michelle to ask if she's dropping by and within 30 mins she was already in our house. Trisha also talked to her about our home-based business and by 6pm we headed to Stonefire Grill for dinner and more girl talk. we had fun talking about life in general, people we know and issues about some people that we never really talked about. it's always good to talk to someone who's not judgmental and has a very open mind about certain things (i wouldn't elaborate on the issue anymore as it is too juvenile).

too bad we had to cut it short because she needs to be home by 9pm. so she took me home and promised to be back on Saturday for the birthday celebration. can't wait...

well, that's how our week went, nothing grand, just regular happenings but very grateful for the time spent with family and great friends.

have a blessed week ahead of you.

why i need my Mom...

dell & i had a big misunderstanding earlier while getting ready for church. it was a petty issue that blew out of proportion. and during the heated argument, we said things that we shouldn't be saying to each other - and i'm hurt and my heart is broken again into pieces.

we do argue once in a while and they say this strengthens the relationship. but how do you handle things when someone wants to walk away? i wish it was that easy and just walk away...it was before but the situation now is different. we have a SON!

and when you have no one to even talk to about it - it makes it more difficult. sometimes i can't even breathe...i don"t have a relative here except for a brother who i don't talk to (and would like to keep it that way). that's when i miss my Mom...

she is the pillar of my strength and the wind beneath my wings...

i just want to go home... =(

my 365 days update...

some of you might be wondering what's happened on my 365 days project...well i decided to do it on a weekly basis para naman di kayo magsawa sa pagbasa. it's actually saved in my draft folder and before i retire for the night i update it of the things that's happened during the day...whether they're exciting or not.
i'm actually enjoying it and it's something i want to do diligently so that we have something to look back at in a few years time. i will try to post it every monday morning. =)

day 11: full moon and salmon

our friend Michelle came over for dinner so i cooked sinigang na salmon belly sa miso. but she came a little early so while waiting for the food to get cooked, we decided to take some photos of the moon.

and finally after some chika chika, my salmon's cooked. well, it doesn't look delish in the pix because i put too much veggies since the girls love it that way but after dinner the pot was half empty. =)
